End user licence agreement

The short version: the apps are free to use, at home or at work, on as many of your own machines as you like. They are not open source — you can’t copy, modify, redistribute or resell them, or lift parts out of them. The full terms below are what you agree to by downloading, installing or using an Unsubbedware app, and a copy is installed with each one.

Last updated: 27 September 2026

This agreement is between you and Unsubbedware (“we”, “us”, “our”), the developer and owner of the Unsubbedware desktop applications (each, the “Software”). By installing or using the Software you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not install or use the Software.

1. Licence

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the Software, for personal or commercial purposes, on any number of devices you own or control. The Software is provided free of charge. Donations are voluntary and buy no additional rights.

2. Ownership

The Software is licensed, not sold. We and our licensors own all rights, title and interest in the Software, including all source code, object code, design, user interface, text, graphics, icons and other content, and all copyright, trade mark and other intellectual property rights in it. You receive only the rights expressly granted in clause 1.

3. Restrictions

Except to the extent this clause is prohibited by law, you must not:

  1. sell, rent, lease, sublicense, distribute, publish or otherwise make the Software available to any third party;
  2. copy the Software except as strictly necessary to install and run it for your own use, or as needed for reasonable backup;
  3. modify, adapt, translate or create derivative works of the Software;
  4. reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble or otherwise attempt to derive the source code of the Software, or defeat or circumvent any technical measures in it, except where and to the extent that this right cannot be excluded under applicable law;
  5. remove, obscure or alter any copyright, trade mark, licence or other proprietary notice in or on the Software;
  6. repackage, rebrand or redistribute the Software or any part of it, whether modified or not, under any name; or
  7. extract, copy or reuse any part of the Software separately from it, including its source or object code, icons, images, graphics, text, user interface or visual design, whether in another product or on its own.

4. Third-party components

The Software includes third-party components that are licensed to you by their owners under their own licences (including open-source licences), not under this agreement. Those components, their licences and, where required, how to obtain their source code are listed in the file THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.txt installed with the Software. Nothing in this agreement limits any right you have under those licences for those components. Clauses 1 to 3 apply to everything else in the Software.

5. Updates

The Software may check for, download and install updates. Updates are part of the Software and are covered by this agreement. We may change or discontinue the Software, or any feature of it, at any time.

6. No warranty

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Software is provided “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE”, without warranty of any kind. We do not warrant that the Software will be error-free, uninterrupted, secure, or that it will not result in loss of or damage to data. You are responsible for keeping backups of your files before using the Software on them.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for any loss of data, profits, revenue or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with the Software or this agreement, however caused. Our total aggregate liability for all claims connected with the Software is limited to AUD $0, reflecting that the Software is supplied free of charge.

8. Australian Consumer Law

Nothing in this agreement excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy you may have under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth) (including the Australian Consumer Law) or any other law that cannot lawfully be excluded. Where our liability for a failure to comply with a consumer guarantee cannot be excluded but can be limited, our liability is limited, at our option, to re-supplying the Software or paying the cost of re-supply.

9. Termination

This licence ends automatically if you breach it. On termination you must stop using the Software and delete all copies. Clauses 2, 4, 6, 7, 8 and 10 survive termination.

10. Governing law

This agreement is governed by the laws of Australia, and the courts of Australia have non-exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from it.

Third-party components

Every app runs on Electron (MIT), which includes Chromium; their licences are in LICENSE and LICENSES.chromium.html in the app’s install folder. The full notices for each app are in THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.txt in the same folder.

  • PDF Editor — PDF.js (Apache 2.0), pdf-lib (MIT), pako (MIT/Zlib), tslib (0BSD), @napi-rs/canvas (MIT, with Skia under BSD 3-Clause).
  • Video Clipper — FFmpeg 7.1.1, run as separate programs (ffmpeg.exe, ffprobe.exe) and licensed under the GNU GPL version 3, not under this agreement. The build is the gyan.dev “essentials” build; FFmpeg’s source is at ffmpeg.org/releases/ffmpeg-7.1.1.tar.xz, and we’ll send the complete corresponding source on request to hello@unsubbedware.com.
